Sylvania Presbyterian Church Is In Search of A Full-Time Pastor
Duties Include:
-Preach and teach the Bible (expository preaching) and conduct worship services (AM only as of now).
-Provide sacraments as needed.
-Conduct outreach, coordinate outreach, train members to engage in outreach.
-Pastoral care for members of the congregation to include visitations, counseling, etc.
-Possess and apply managerial skills in cooperation with the Session and members of the congregation as necessary (administrative activities).
-Train and mentor potential candidates for church office.
-Participate in Presbytery and denominational activities.
-Moderate the Session, congregational meetings, etc.
Qualifications:
-Possess a seminary degree or be on track to receive such a degree from a Reformed seminary.
-Must be qualified to be ordained as a minister in the PCA (or able to work toward ordination) and meet all requirements of our Covenant Presbytery for ordination.
-Stand a detailed interview by the Session on doctrinal positions, any exceptions to the WCF, and provide responses to questions regarding current trends in ecclesiology.
For Consideration:
SPC would be willing to discuss bi-vocational, interns, graduates, DL seminarians, etc. The primary objective is to meet the Biblical standards for ministry, the requirements of our Presbytery (Covenant Presbytery), the BCO, and secure confirmation of the Pulpit Committee and congregation. Ultimately, our congregation must receive sound preaching and teaching of God's Word.
